personal rapid transit
The PRT connects downtown Morgantown and the downtown, Evansdale, and Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center campuses using a system of computer-driven cars on 8.2 miles of elevated guideways. It’s a convenient way to avoid traffic—and it’s free with a WVU ID card!
It’s unique to the town. It’s unique because not every school has this, and it’s fast, easy and free for students, and inexpensive for Morgantown citizens.
- The record number of PRT riders in one day was set on the first day of classes in fall of 2006: 31,280 riders in one day
